(Northern & Yorkshire) Regional Drug & Therapeutics Centre
The Regional Drug and Therapeutics Centre (RDTC) is responsible for a range of issues relating to medicines use and drug safety. These include monitoring and advising on prescribing and medicines use in primary and secondary care, and the provision of quality assurance for medicines to stakeholder organisations in the North of England.

The RDTC aims to promote the safe, effective and economical use of medicines to the National Health Service in the North of England; promoting the highest quality of care for people exposed to the toxic effects of drugs or chemicals; and disseminating and developing knowledge in these areas through teaching and research.

National electronic Library for Health
The National electronic Library for Health Programme is working with NHS Libraries to develop a digital library for NHS staff, patients and the public. Any pharmacist who wishes to access the full database may now apply for an Athens password online.
  Clinical Knowledge Summaries
This site is being developed from the PRODIGY Knowledge data and will provide easy to read quality assured, readily accessible and regularly updated clinical knowledge to help healthcare professionals manage common patient conditions generally seen in primary and first-contact care.

Pharmaceutical Journal
PJ Online is an interactive website at the forefront of pharmacy practice for pharmacists and allied professionals. The new website replaces the original website first launched in 1999, and also includes the PJ Careers website.

The site provides frequently updated news, jobs, careers advice, ask-the-expert sessions, discussion groups and an invaluable archive.

British Medical Journal
The full text of articles from the BMJ is available free on the internet. The archive goes back to 1994. The site is useful for keeping up with developments in primary care and the new NHS
The Lancet
Provides selected full-text articles from the Lancet. Registration is required but access is free
Bandolier
is a free access site of the monthly journal on evidence-based healthcare written by Oxford Scientists. Every back issue to 1995 is available free on-line. The site is funded entirely by sponsorship but remains editorially completely independent.
Effective Health Care Bulletin
from the University of York is a bi-monthly bulletin for decision makers in the NHS which examines the effectiveness of healthcare interventions including medicines

The magazine's 'dotPharmacy' site includes news and features from the C&D, and has links to other pharmacy-related pages

Pharmaceutical Press
The Pharmaceutical Press, the publications division of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, produces books, journals and related electronic products on pharmacy, the pharmaceutical sciences and similar disciplines.

Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency
Information on medicines safety such as recent drug withdrawals, consultations on reclassifications of medicines, links to the Committee on Safety of Medicines and the ability to download Yellow Cards.

The MCA (Medicines Control Agency) and MDA (Medical Devices Agency) merged on 1st. April 2003 to form the MHRA

National Institute for Clinical Excellence
This site gives details of drugs and treatments currently being assessed by NICE and summaries of findings from previous reviews
